LOOM — Handcrafted Rugs
Craftsmanship — the art of handmaking a LOOM rug

Made slowly. Made by hand. Made to last.

Every LOOM rug passes through dozens of skilled hands before it reaches your home. From tufting and carving to washing and finishing — each step is done slowly, carefully and entirely by hand.

Thread by Thread

Each LOOM rug begins on a large hand-tufting frame, where artisans use handheld tools to carefully build the design one thread at a time.

This technique allows for exceptional detail, sculpted textures and subtle variations in pile height — from soft tonal surfaces to bold graphic patterns with carved lines and depth.

Depending on the complexity, a single rug can take several weeks to complete.

Heavy Yet Soft

Our rugs are tufted at 4000 grams per square metre — a significantly higher density than most standard rugs on the market.

This creates a fuller, richer surface that feels incredibly soft underfoot while helping the rug maintain its structure and appearance over time.

The result is a rug that feels luxurious from the moment it arrives, but is also built for the reality of everyday living.

Finished by Hand

Once tufting is completed, every rug goes through an extensive hand-finishing process that can take days.

Lines are carved to sharpen patterns and create depth. Edges are refined, surfaces are sheared and textures are balanced until the design feels visually and tactically complete.

These techniques are what give LOOM rugs their sculptural quality — subtle shadows, layered textures and a quiet sense of movement across the surface.

New Zealand Wool

We use 100% New Zealand wool because of its natural softness, durability and rich colour absorption.

The fibres are resilient enough for everyday use, while still feeling warm and luxurious underfoot. Wool also naturally regulates temperature, repels dirt and ages beautifully over time.

A material chosen not just for how it looks — but for how it lives.

Beyond Standard

Because every LOOM rug is made to order, we can customise far beyond colour and size alone.

Different pile heights, carved details, mixed techniques, irregular shapes or fully bespoke compositions — each rug can be tailored specifically to the interior it’s designed for.

No overstock. No standard production runs. Just rugs made intentionally, one by one.
